An External Door needs to be able to withstand the weather, as well as being safe and secure, providing protection for you and your family! If you are having trouble finding the right door to match your requirements, we have more designs to choose from.
Types of Period External Doors
At EFD, we have a wide range of external doors to choose from. Whether it be 3-panel, 2-panel or 1, you will find what you are looking for. We have both Hardwood and Oak styles also, including a variety of glazed options. All beautifully crafted using the most outstanding materials and contemporary engineered techniques.
Oak External Doors
Our Oak external doors are 44mm thick and extremely solid, with an engineered core of solid block and particleboard, topped off with the most excellent quality of oak veneers.
Hardwood External Doors
Our hardwood doors have an inside core made up of solid hardwood blocks, jointed with mortise and tenon. They are then topped off with a stunning A-grade hardwood veneer. Glazing allows extra light to pass between rooms, brightening up those darker areas.
Part L Doors
We offer part L options. Each door has a Part L certificate to comply with building regulations. Many people are looking to save on their energy bills, benefitting the environment too. They are constructed with additional insulating materials built into their core.
Benefits of an Engineered External Door
Engineered doors have many benefits to them. Traditional timber doors are prone to moving, warping, contracting and expanding within the season changes. They are also made up of a range of fundamental parts joined together under extreme heat. This ‘core’ is then covered in a high-grade veneer. Ensuring the door will hold together to form a solid body that will resist warping, movement and expansion.
We recommend that a qualified joiner should install your door. Four hinges are recommended for external doors and suitable solid locking mechanisms as well. The door should be hung in a sound fitting, hardwood, outer grade frame. Your external door becomes exposed to UV rays and the weather from the moment it is hung. Good quality, weatherproof paint or treatments are always recommended for all external doors to make sure that they stand through typical British weather.
